The professional cosmetic company Kryolan began in 1945 in Berlin. It was, and still is, a family-owned business with over 200 employees spread across all areas of cosmetic formulation, manufacture and world-wide sales to the professional cosmetic market. Kryolan in Australia had its origins back in 1978 when Marshal Caffyn, as a pharmacist, owned the Mid City Pharmacy in Bourke Street, Melbourne, Victoria. The majority of clients were makeup artists, professional and amateur performers in the film, stage and television industries. Marshal saw the desperate need for quality makeup in Australia and began importing Kryolan to ensure his clients had access to the latest products used in the TV and Film Industries; this in turn helped them to develop their artistic potential and keep up to date with international trends. Many years, several moves and a name change later Kryolan Cosmetics has a new home in a state of the art, architecturally designed, very glamorous store located in the new Southern Cross precinct. The new store is bigger and better than ever before showcasing all the products in the range. The lovely Kryolan Cosmetics staff, are fully trained professional makeup artists and extremely well versed in the Kryolan range are happy to help and educate you on how to use these wonderful products. Unfortunately Marshal lost a fight against Multiple Myeloma in 2010 and passed this fantastic legacy down his family. His dream is now continued with his daughter Sally at the helm as Managing Director and with fresh eyes Sally is looking forward to enhancing Marshal's vision by leaving her own mark on the business and having the opportunity to show its full potential. As Kryolan Cosmetics looks to the future it continues to be the preferred choice by local and international celebrities; used in the kits of professional makeup artists world-wide, in educational institutions, pharmacies, salons and found in the beauty case of many everyday modern women.
